Thanksgiving

We had a wonderful time in Arizona for Thanksgiving.  A thousand thanks to Paul and Sarah for opening their home to us.  Mirabelle experienced her first road-trip and she proved herself ready for the challenge.  She slept a lot and inspired us to take a leisurely drive through Joshua Tree National Park.  The desert fascinated her and, like most things, made her hungry.  She ate lunch on a bench beside a desert nature trail.  She then switched sides and had dessert, which is a lovely thing to do in a desert.  Later, perhaps due to her dessert, she decided to fill her diaper up to her waist with waste worthy of the desert wasteland.  On the side of the road, on her mother’s lap, in the passenger seat, she had her diaper changed. The three of us set about cleaning young Mirabelle.  This took all of our attention.  We were so engaged in what we were doing, that we did not notice a coyote passing our way.  This coyote startled me and brought Mark Twain’s words to my mind: “The coyote is a living, breathing allegory of Want. He is always hungry. He is always poor, out of luck and friendless.”  This coyote took one sniff of us and wanted nothing to do with us.  He deserted us as quickly as he’d found us, prowling off into the rocks, dirt, and cacti in search of something a bit more fit to be his dessert.

My apologies to Lindsey who has a husband who writes such ridiculosity.  There are new pictures posted.  Please enjoy.
